“On a scale of 1 – 3… You are a 3.14 to me!!!
Yes, I said that. I wanted to say something sweet and catchy to my boyfriend and also commemorate the fact that today is “Pi Day” without flat out saying, “Happy Pi Day!” What do you think?!?! Pretty clever, right?
Did you know that “Pi Day” is celebrated around the world on March 14th? The Greek letter pi is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference or a circle to its diameter (which is approximately 3.14.)
I am especially fascinated by pi because Pi is a constant number, meaning that for all circles of any size, Pi will be the same.
Now math and circles all aside, I LOVE pie so that makes this day even more special to me! I love pies of all kinds: Triple berry pie, blueberry pie, chocolate peanut butter pie, pumpkin pie, key lime pie, strawberry rhubarb pie, pecan pie… I am sure that I am leaving some out. I mention blueberry pie because it reminds me of a story that my Grandma Alice loves to tell…
She said that she was not a fan of blueberry pie. When she and my Grandpa first got married they lived in Washington DC. She said that they did not have a lot of money to begin with because they were just starting out. She got home one day after work and was so hungry and all that was in the house was a blueberry pie that my Grandpa got (I don’t think he knew that she disliked blueberry pie at the time). She said that she was so hungry that she ate the entire blueberry pie and for the first time; it was Absolutely Delicious… Or as she would say in Hawaiian, “Ono.”
Today I went out and splurged on a Peanut Butter Chocolate Silk Cream pie! How did you celebrate “Pi Day.” And what is your favorite kind of pie?
