Congratulations! We have made it through another Monday! I have grown to like Mondays over the course of these past two months because it is a day that I don’t have an evening class. It is nice to gradually ease into my classes each week.
How was your day? My day was pretty busy. I had a full day at work and I swear that the swimming pool deck is getting hotter and hotter everyday and the heat makes me drag. During my 30 minute break I drove thru a coffee shop called Forza and ordered a “Venetian Coffee” with a slice of apple pecan pie. I kind of regretted the coffee after the fact because it turned out to be a chock-full of calories. No wonder it is so delicious! The pie was decadently tasty with a crust that just melted in my mouth… Yeah, I was naughty today!
I got a good 40 minute workout with the spin class and we did cardio intervals which consisted of:
- Mountain Climbers (1 min)
- Ski Jumps (1 Min)
- One legged pattern hops (1 min)
In between each cardio interval we biked for a minute. All that hopping got my heart rate up and made me work up a sweat!
When I got home my real workouts began.
Workout of the Day: Walk Ruby, Mixxedfit, & Chest Day!!!
Ruby and I went for a 30 minute walk. It was nice to spend some time outside and stretch our legs.
Once I got home, I realized that I was feeling pretty tired. I am past the halfway point of my classes and only have about two weeks left of this quarter so I feel inclined to stay home and study.
This evening I almost skipped my trip to the gym. Then I remembered that I have goals to feel fit, healthy, and good about myself!!!
I changed into my gym clothes and headed off to Mixxedfit!!! Here is one of my favorite routines!!! Give it a try!!!
I could feel myself fading towards the middle of the workout and I started feeling like skipping my resistance training workout and just heading home. Instead, I decided to proceed as planned:
- 12 Push-ups
- 12 Dumbell Chest Presses
- 12 Dumbell Flys
- 12 Push-ups
- 12 Tricep Bench dips
- 12 Tricep Extensions
*Repeat this circuit 3 times!!! You CAN do it!!!*

In the middle of my chest workout I started feeling super crampy. I think it must be that time of month… I almost didn’t complete the 3rd set, but I decided to do it anyways because I wanted to finish what I started. I love my gym because the locker room has a steam room and I always spray as much eucalyptus as I possibly can. As I sat there sweating in that steamy room, I kept thinking about how much of a luxury it is to be able to sit there and relax.
On my way home I picked up some cranberry juice, cashew milk, and some chicken noodle soup for tomorrow’s lunch. I think I earned it. I have been working hard to clean up my nutrition (minus this morning’s pie day treat… even though pi day has already passed) and I ate a dish with quinoa (I think I made it extra spicy), peas, and chickpeas. Then for dinner I had a chicken pot pie… Not exactly clean eating, I know, but it was yummy and fit right into the “pie theme.” I think that today’s nutrition could have contributed to my lack of energy. I will try again tomorrow!
